PARAGON Record MANOWAR Cover, Continue Work On New CD

February 14, 2003

German melodic metallers PARAGON have finished recording a cover of MANOWAR's "The Gods Made Heavy Metal" for an upcoming MANOWAR tribute CD, due in August through Nuclear Blast Records. During the same sessions, the band tracked a brand new song, "Eye Of The Storm", to be released as a limited 7" EP (250 vinyl picture EPs, 250 "normal" vinyl EPs) in June through Remedy Records. On the B-side, there will be at least one (of three) "missing" songs from the band's last two albums, "Steelbound" and "Law Of The Blade", which didn't fit onto the 12" vinyl editions of the albums. Says bassist Jan Bünning: " 'Eye Of The Storm' is a really metal anthem in the vein of 'Blood Of My Enemies' or 'In Union We Stand' and the 'The Gods Made Heavy Metal' also turned out pretty good."

PARAGON are currently writing songs for the follow-up to last year's critically-acclaimed "Law Of The Blade" CD for a tentative July 2003 release through Remedy Records.

"We are [finishing up] the last few songs (about three are still missing) for our next CD, [which] we will record in March/April again with Piet Sielck at the Powerhouse Studios," Bünning says. "The songs so far are more basic than the last album 'Law Of The Blade' and even remind me sometimes of our debut CD 'World Of Sin'. Expect some surprises as we have one or two songs which are not typical for us, but of course still heavy metal to the bone. The lyrics will have again have a loose concept, this time dealing with a mirror in an old house which teleports our 'hero' to different adventures."

Upcoming PARAGON tour dates:

Apr. 11 – Hamburg, GER @ Headbanger's Ballroom
Apr. 17 – Lübeck, GER @ Alternative / Treibsand
Apr. 19 – Motala, SWE @ Motala Metal Fest
Apr. 26 – Borken, GER @ Vennehof
Jul. 11-12 – Brande, GER @ Hörnerkirchen
Jul. 26 – Hamburg, GER @ Harburg
